Why codes expire
Developers set codes to expire for three practical reasons: to make an event feel time limited, to cap how much free currency enters the economy, and to stop old promotional rewards from devaluing new ones. Some codes also have a redemption cap rather than a date, which is why a code can die within hours of being posted.
How to tell a code is dead before trying it
If a code has been circulating for more than a few weeks and the game has shipped an update since, assume it is gone. Lists that keep growing and never shrink are not being checked.
